Super J Supermarkets at La Clery and New Dock Closing for Renovations
Multi-million dollar improvements to be undertaken at Super J La Clery (Castries) and Super J New Dock (Vieux Fort) mean that both establishments will be closed for renovations from July 2 to 24, 2015. The stores are being remodelled and the three week closure is necessary to accelerate the pace of renovations. When completed, these locations will feature new services, offerings and equipment, as well as improved layout to enhance the overall shopping experience and comfort of customers.
The remodelling of the two stores will cost in excess of EC $5 million. CFL’s Managing Director, Martin Dorville, says this is part of a planned programme of upgrades across CFL stores over the next three years. This, he adds, is part of the strategy by the company’s shareholders to continue to invest in the local economy and will address customer requests for additional services and amenities.
“It is important that we remain competitive in the market and focus on enhancing our stores with features appropriate to the changing face of retail and evolving customer expectations. We will continue to be responsive to our customers’ needs, invest in our stores and our team, while simultaneously supporting local community and charitable organizations,” Mr. Dorville said.
CFL’s Head of Operations, Janice Edwards Lionel, is coordinating the remodel project. She assures customers that plans are already in place to minimise any inconvenience as a result of the closure.
“We appreciate our customers’ patience during the period of closure and apologize for any inconvenience which this may cause. All other Super J locations will be open, stocked and ready to serve our valued customers. Our La Tourney Store in Vieux Fort is being prepped to handle the additional traffic expected from New Dock and a free shuttle service will also be operating during the period to take customers to and from La Tourney,” explained Mrs. Lionel.
Grand re-openings of Super J New Dock and Super J La Clery are scheduled to celebrate the upgrades at both stores. Super J New Dock will reopen on July 23, while Super J La Clery’s opening is carded for July 24.
As of January 1, 2014 the Massy group of companies became the majority shareholder of CFL which is the operating entity for CFL retail stores (Super J IGA Supermarkets, Mega J and glfoodmarket). Massy Stores owns 60 percent of CFL’s shares, the JQ Charles Group owns 30 percent, while over 200 of the company’s staff own the additional ten percent.
