Pinehill Walk at Fifteen

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

Organizers of one of the biggest fun walks here on the island are expecting even greater participation for this year’s event. Distributors of Pinehill, Peter and Company, launched the 2015 edition of the Pinehill Fun Walk on July 24 and since then the feedback has been overwhelming.

Over the past week organizers have set up kiosks at the malls and supermarkets where persons can register and this, they say, has been going very well. Now in its 15th year, the walk seeks to raise the consciousness of Saint Lucians about healthy lifestyles and the importance of moving away from the day-to-day task of simply walking.

Pinehill Brand Manager, Shari Popo says that as a nation, Saint Lucia appears to be plagued by several chronic and progressive conditions that can be prevented or managed through various active and healthy life changes. “We therefore challenge our walkers to keep walking through the year and not just during the week of Pinehill Fun Walk,” she says.

This year’s Pinehill Fun Walk will be held this Sunday August 16 from 6:30 a.m. The walk begins near the Sab playing field at Vigie, up the John Compton Highway to Gros Islet and ends at Pigeon Island.

At the end point participants will be treated to breakfast as well as a health and wellness fair ahead of the prize-giving ceremony.

Radio Caribbean International, DIGICEL 4G, Paradise Water, Virgin Atlantic, Flow, Scotia Bank, Seven Seas, Subway, Travel and Leisure Centre, Excel Signs and Landmark Events are partners in this year’s Pinehill Fun Walk.
