2015 Youth Ambassadors from Republic of China (Taiwan) for NCC Show
The 2015 Youth Ambassadors delegation from the Republic of China (Taiwan) is scheduled to visit Saint Lucia from 5th to 9th September, 2015. The twentymember delegation includes 16 college students from music, dancing, performing arts, and other fields plus one professor from performing arts, and is led by Director General Mr. Chen Bor-Show of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The 16 college students were selected following a comprehensive process and have undergone rigorous training. Each member is honoured to serve as a Youth Ambassador and confident that he or she will make meaningful contributions to international youth cultural exchanges.
The students will conduct a stage performance that combines dance, music, and Mandarin language themes, in order to introduce Taiwan to St. Lucian people. The performance, entitled Energetic New Taiwan, is divided into 12 acts and focuses on six main aspects: natural environment, LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability), cultural heritage, cuisine, cultural creativity, and warmth. It is scheduled to take place at the National Cultural Centre from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. on 7th September, 2015. The performance is open to public.
During the visit, the delegation will also meet with government officials and students of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in the theme of cultural exchange of two countries.
The Republic of China (Taiwan) has conducted the International Youth Ambassadors Exchange Programme since 2009. Based on the experiences and results of the overseas trips made by Youth Ambassadors over the past six years, the programme this year has been designed to ensure continued innovation, while also retaining successful elements of previous years. This programme, which allows talented Taiwanese youth to participate in international affairs and broaden their horizons, has increased understanding of Taiwan's development among various sectors of the host countries. In addition, through a wide array of exchanges and interactions, the Youth Ambassadors have demonstrated Taiwan's important role on the international stage as a provider of humanitarian aid, promoter of cultural exchanges, and standard bearer of Chinese culture.
To further enhance the outcome of the programme, the theme for the 2015 delegation is “Youth from Taiwan, Compassion for All.” The goal is to not only highlight the vitality and kindness of Taiwanese youth, but also reiterate their commitment to issues of global concern such as humanitarian aid and sustainable development.
