INCREASE ROYALTY PAYMENTS TO ECCO MEMBERS
The 6th Annual General Meeting of the Eastern Caribbean Collective Organisation for Music Rights (ECCO) Inc. was held on Tuesday 18th August, 2015 at the CSA Centre in Castries. Whilst the meeting was held in St. Lucia, members outside that territory were able to participate by online conferencing technology.
Some key achievements noted in the Chairman’s Report: • Achieved a 12% growth in royalty collection (continuing with the feat of achieving growth in each year since ECCO was established in 2009); royalties again topping the million dollar mark at $1,185,346; • Now licensing in each active territory including Saint Lucia, Dominica, Grenada, Antigua, St. Kitts & Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines; • Signed new agreements with leading cable operators in two ECCO territories (LIME in Saint Lucia and SAT in Dominica (Now Digicel Play); • Created an online presence through the ECCO Website, FB, Twitter and Instagram; • In collaboration with COSCAP and the OECS secretariat, was able to initiate the Calypso in Berlin project enabling ECCO members to perform and participate in workshops in Berlin, Germany
ECCO members approved three key resolutions at the AGM: to facilitate membership for persons under the age of 18; introduction of staggered rotation of Directors to improve the business of the Board; and introduction of a policy whereby an ECCO Director cannot also be an officer of the organisation.
Commenting on the 28% increase in royalties to members as stated in the 2014 Financial Statements, ECCO GM Steve Etienne said, “We have to acknowledge and thank three key licensees for making this possible: the Sandals chain of Hotels, LIME (for its cable service in Saint Lucia) and the Wave (Saint Lucia’s leading radio station). Revenue from these ethically managed corporates continues to be above the levels of other music users, a position consistently maintained for over a decade.”
