“Spir­i­tual healer” in Trinidad ac­cused of 91 sex­ual of­fences against a mi­nor

A44-year-old self­pro­claimed spir­i­tual healer has been slapped with 91 charges re­lated to his al­leged sex­ual ac­tiv­ity with a young girl.

Kr­ishna Singh, a de­por­tee, was de­nied bail when he ap­peared in court last week on the charges.

He is ac­cused of 81 counts of sex­ual pen­e­tra­tion of a fe­male, five counts of griev­ous sex­ual as­sault, and five counts of sex­ual in­ter­course with a fe­male be­tween the ages of 14 and 16 years.

The sex­ual of­fences al­legedly oc­curred be­tween May 12 and Au­gust 6 this year, the Trinidad and Tobago Po­lice Ser­vice said.

Singh was de­nied bail and re­manded into cus­tody, un­til Septem­ber 16, af­ter po­lice in­formed the court that he had sim­i­lar charges pend­ing in the same ju­ris­dic­tion.

Fol­low­ing a po­lice trace, it was also dis­cov­ered that he was de­ported from the United States af­ter be­ing con­victed of sim­i­lar of­fences.

Singh, who is also known by the aliases Shel­ton Roberts and Shelford Roberts, faces ad­di­tional charges of re­sist­ing ar­rest and as­sault.-CMC
