In the eyes of some St. Lucia is a slave plantation!

What’s right with the constitution Toni Mac Daddy?? Some of you think what the socalled founding fathers drafted 30 plus years ago is written on stone tablets and how dare you question its act. Some of us are complaining about the lack of transparency of the powers of the prime minister, the lack of check and balances and they are the same ones stating if it’s not broken why fix it ( they know themselves). When you look at life in St Lucia today do you really think everyone is enjoying the provisions of the constitution Dear ole’ Mac Daddy?? As far as I am concerned every democraticly drafted constitution should be revised, revisited, retooled and amended if necessary every 30 to 40 years to curtail to the needs of citizens as socioeconomic and growing pains of the country evolve.

Rick, how long have you being a native of this old weathered rock? Longer than I have for sure. So why are you surprised, if you are, that the essentials were not provided in what passes for analysis and debate in the rouse of disassembly? There is a pretence of democracy in St Lucia, you know that. And let’s face it, the only aspect of democracy that is allowed any chance of working is the idea of adult suffrage. One man one vote, and even that malfunctions as the process is subverted continuously by the buying of votes for the mere price of chicken and rum and the promise of school books for the “malaway” conveniently so called. Not to even mention the gerrymandering with the boundaries as convenient to sitting governments. So Rick, stop the pissing in your own eye.

If the leopard could change its spots hell would be colder than the north pole, and we would never have to dream of going to heaven. If Kenny and company (the other 16 dumpties) that occupied the people’s house could have done any better than they demonstrated one last time, then fair Helen would be the most powerful nation on earth, the world would be at peace, and crime would have ceased to exist so much that the word would cease to even exist in language. How dare this dam commission ask the goose to kill itself. Are you kidding, you want the goose that lays the golden egg to die? Well the power to manipulate people’s lives is never easy to give up, and when there are no checks and balances it makes it even much more so difficult, So Pip, of course, like the rest of his colleagues would never welcome a change in the status quo that threatens to knock them off their high and mighty pedestal. Humpty will never sit on a wall, that’s a fable created about him; Humpty too smart for that.

- John Joseph An elitist group wants to rule St. Lucia!

It is interesting this constitution review report is only available to politicians and the general public at large to read, digest and analyse whether it truly reflects some of the contributions they made to Suzie’s team as they toured St. Lucians across the globe. Now politicians are debating from their own perspective and interest, giving their own spin on recommendations and not seeing the bigger picture of country first. No wonder this document was left to gather dust for years.
