Following the passage of tropical storm Erika, more than EC$100,000 worth of paint, products and resources has been pledged to the government and people of Dominica by the leading paint company in Dominica, Harris Paints, the Caribbean Champions of Colour.

The regional coating specialist has also shipped a 40ft container packed with shoes, clothing, household items and foodstuff.

Harris Paints Dominica staff have also been visiting communities across Dominica, donating needed supplies such as food items.

The mission at Harris is to enrich the lives of people wherever Harris chooses to market its products and services. Harris Paints, in fulfilling its mission, has contributed towards the transformation of the environment in Dominica, following the damage caused by storm Erika on 27th August.

“Dominicans are known to be resilient but we are all pretty shocked at the scale of the disaster and now is the time for us to come together and show our support as corporate citizens,” said Ian Kenyon, Chief Executive Officer of Harris Paints.

Mr Kenyon, along with Mrs Marguerite Desir who heads the Dominica, St. Lucia and Guyana Business Units, recently visited Dominica to get a first-hand look at the devastation. While there, they had the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and officially presented the company’s offer of support. They also joined the Dominican local team in the distribution of needed items at the different communities.

“Our first priority as Dominica’s leading paint supplier was to assist individuals who needed basic items for survival and then to help in the rebuilding phase, which will be a crucial step in the country regaining its footing,” said Kenyon.

“During our meeting we also proposed to the Government of Dominica a sustained effort on the part of Harris Paints over the next two years. In the meantime, we want to assure all Dominicans that Harris Paints will continue to lend assistance in whatever way we can.”

Mr Kenyon urged individuals, associations and organisations to continue to support the relief effort. The Human Resource Manager STAR Publishing Co. Ltd P.O.Box 1146 Castries St. Lucia Only applicants considered suitable will be acknowledged.
