PRIME MINISTER ANTHONY RETURNS FROM NEW YORK
Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, has arrived home following a five-day diplomatic visit to New York City. Among the noteworthy events in which he took part were the United Nations (UN) Summit on the Adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, attended by over 170 heads of state, and the 70th Session of the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly.
Following his presentation at the UN, Prime Minister Anthony interfaced with Saint Lucians of the Diaspora during a town hallstyle meeting held in Brooklyn, New York. He was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Alva Baptiste; Minister for Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology Hon. Dr. James Fletcher; Saint Lucia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations H.E. Ms. Menissa Rambally, and Consul General Hon. Julian Du Bois.
Dr. Anthony opened the session by reporting on the Saint Lucian economy. This was followed by discussions on topics of special interest: job creation and investment opportunities, the role of overseas-based Saint Lucians in the development of the island, the IMPACS report, and the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.
The Saint Lucian leader went on to address a number of developments taking place in the local health sector. He then reviewed the “Citizenship by Investment” programme before taking questions.
Guests were treated to performances by Saint Lucia’s Children of Culture, singing sensation Christine “Chrycee” Charlemagne, and Saint Lucian-born gospel artist Alcee.
