The Star (St. Lucia) - - COMMENT -

As part of efforts to build resilience at the community level, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Fire Service and other government, non-government and private entities, will be hosting a Safety Exposition at the Anse La Raye Playing Field on Monday, October 5th, 2015 from 10:00 a.m.

This Safety Expo represents a non-traditional medium for information dissemination at the community level, and is expected to facilitate effective inter-agency collaboration in getting relevant information to the public on Fire Prevention and Safety, as well as disaster risk reduction measures which can be easily implemented by individuals and households to reduce their level of vulnerability to hazards.

In addition to presentations by various agencies, distribution of literature (brochures and posters), demonstrations and information booths, there will be fun-filled and engaging activities for adults and children alike.

As part of a broader Disaster Risk Reduction programme, community residents, in collaboration with the Anse la Raye Constituency Council and with the support of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, will also be undertaking a clean-up of the drainage system around the playing on Saturday October 3rd, 2015.

A special invitation is extended to the general public to participate in the various activities and to play a part in building a culture of safety. Residents of Anse La Raye are especially encouraged to attend and to participate.
