Howard Univer­sity Se­nior Named 2016 Rhodes Schol­ar­ship Fi­nal­ist

Howard Univer­sity se­nior, Stacey Ro­he­man, has been se­lected as a 2016 Rhodes Schol­ar­ship fi­nal­ist. Ro­he­man, a Le­gal Com­mu­ni­ca­tions ma­jor from Saint Lucia, is a stu­dent-ath­lete on the Univer­sity’s ten­nis team with a 3.9 GPA.

Ro­he­man is a can­di­date for the Com­mon­wealth Caribbean Rhodes Schol­ar­ship. The next step in the se­lec­tion process is an in­ter­view with the Rhodes Se­lec­tion Com­mit­tee in Bar­ba­dos on Novem­ber 24. Rhodes Schol­ar­ship re­cip­i­ents will be an­nounced by the Rhodes Trust in De­cem­ber.

“Ms. Ro­he­man’s achieve­ments are the cul­mi­na­tion of a per­sonal com­mit­ment to ex­cel­lence and a self­less re­solve to ap­ply her tal­ents to make pos­i­tive changes to ben­e­fit oth­ers,” said Dr. Wayne A. I. Fred­er­ick, pres­i­dent of Howard Univer­sity. “The Howard Com­mu­nity ap­plauds her achieve­ments and wishes her well as she con­tin­ues to de­velop as a com­mu­nity leader.”

Pre­vi­ous Howard Univer­sity stu­dents Rhodes Schol­ars are Mark Al­leyne, B.A., Jour­nal­ism (1984); Carla Peter­man, B.A., History (1999); and Mar­i­anna Ofosu, B.A., Clas­si­cal Civ­i­liza­tion (2003).
