Stu­dents take in Latin Amer­i­can and Caribbean Fes­ti­val

On the af­ter­noon of Tues­day 10th Novem­ber, 2015 the Em­bassy of the Ar­gen­tine Repub­lic in Saint Lucia hosted fifth form Span­ish stu­dents of the Saint Mary’s Col­lege at a film screen­ing. “El Ra­ton Pérez” (The Hairy Tooth Fairy), an an­i­mated film di­rected by Juan Pablo Bus­carini, fea­tured as part of the first Latin Amer­i­can and Caribbean Cul­tural Fes­ti­val which was launched on Mon­day 9th Novem­ber. In the evening, the gen­eral pub­lic was in­vited to the screen­ing of the com­edy “Mi Primera Boda” (My First Wed­ding) by the Ar­gen­tine di­rec­tor Ariel Wino­grad.

This event, or­ga­nized by the Min­istry of Tourism, Her­itage and Cre­ative In­dus­tries, with the Cul­tural De­vel­op­ment Foun­da­tion and the Saint Lucia Au­dio­vi­sual and Film As­so­ci­a­tion, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Ar­gen­tine, Brazil­ian, Cuban, Mex­i­can and Venezue­lan Em­bassies ac­cred­ited in Saint Lucia, en­tails the show­ing of renowned and/or awarded films from each par­tic­i­pat­ing coun­try. Along­side the screen­ing of Latin Amer­i­can and Caribbean films, the pub­lic is also treated to au­dio­vi­su­als and short films pro­duced by Saint Lu­cian na­tion­als.

Am­bas­sador H.E. Luis Bel­trán Martínez Thomas ex­pressed his hope that the event be­comes an an­nual one on the cul­tural cal­en­der of Saint Lucia and even ex­tends through­out the East­ern Caribbean.
