Students take in Latin American and Caribbean Festival
On the afternoon of Tuesday 10th November, 2015 the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Saint Lucia hosted fifth form Spanish students of the Saint Mary’s College at a film screening. “El Raton Pérez” (The Hairy Tooth Fairy), an animated film directed by Juan Pablo Buscarini, featured as part of the first Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Festival which was launched on Monday 9th November. In the evening, the general public was invited to the screening of the comedy “Mi Primera Boda” (My First Wedding) by the Argentine director Ariel Winograd.
This event, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries, with the Cultural Development Foundation and the Saint Lucia Audiovisual and Film Association, in collaboration with the Argentine, Brazilian, Cuban, Mexican and Venezuelan Embassies accredited in Saint Lucia, entails the showing of renowned and/or awarded films from each participating country. Alongside the screening of Latin American and Caribbean films, the public is also treated to audiovisuals and short films produced by Saint Lucian nationals.
Ambassador H.E. Luis Beltrán Martínez Thomas expressed his hope that the event becomes an annual one on the cultural calender of Saint Lucia and even extends throughout the Eastern Caribbean.
