An­nual Gros Islet Health Fi­esta Sun­day

In com­mem­o­ra­tion of four years in of­fice, the Par­lia­men­tary Rep­re­sen­ta­tive for Gros Islet will be cel­e­brat­ing with a health pro­mo­tion cam­paign (Health Fi­esta) as a long-stand­ing com­mit­ment to­wards a healthy Saint Lucia, in par­tic­u­lar a healthy Gros Islet.

The Health Fi­esta will be held on the grounds of the Gros Islet Ro­man Catholic Church on Sun­day 29th Novem­ber, 2015 and is be­ing or­gan­ised by the Gros Islet Con­stituency Group.

The Health fi­esta will be pre­ceded by a church ser­vice at the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at 7:00 a.m, af­ter which per­sons are ex­pected to join the Fi­esta on the grounds in front of the church.

The Fi­esta will of­fer, among other ser­vices: den­tal ser­vices, test­ing for hy­per­ten­sion and STDs, PSA test­ing for men over 40 years old, and nu­tri­tion coun­selling, as well as fa­cil­i­ties to do­nate blood.

Some of the par­tic­i­pants in the Health Fi­esta will be: The Min­istry of Health, Saint Lucia Planned Par­ent­hood As­so­ci­a­tion; Saint Lucia Di­a­betic and Hy­per­ten­sive As­so­ci­a­tion, Stu­dents of the Amer­i­can In­ter­na­tional Med­i­cal Univer­sity (AIMU), Saint Lucia Blind Wel­fare As­so­ci­a­tion, the Blood Bank, and United and Strong group.

The en­tire con­stituency of Gros Islet is en­cour­aged to par­tic­i­pate in the ac­tiv­i­ties and ben­e­fit from the free screen­ing avail­able on that day.
