Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015; Celebration of Enteprise and Entrepreneurial People

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

The celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2015 held from 16th to 22nd November, 2015 saw government officials, entrepreneurship experts and the youth coming together to discuss ways to promote startup activity and encourage higher levels of entrepreneurship in Saint Lucia. From the call for revised regulatory work ethics to changes to existing policies, it became clear that entrepreneurship experts, corporate Saint Lucia and youth leaders responded to the aim to create an environment for entrepreneurship to flourish.

With approximately 80 activities, ranging from an Idea Generation competition and motivational sessions to a fashion competition and panel discussions, it was evident that GEW 2015 was indeed successful in raising awareness of entrepreneurship among the youth. Many senior executives from the corporate community, plus young as well as seasoned entrepreneurs, showed their support by mentoring at the primary, secondary and tertiary institutions islandwide and hosting activities at their organizations.

With seven days to achieve four goals it became visible that the Saint Lucian populace definitely responded to the call by joining the global network to Inspire, Connect, Mentor and Engage in raising the awareness of entrepreneurship in our nation.

The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture extends congratulations and appreciation to all GEW partners for a successful GEW 2015.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is an expanding platform for connection and collaboration that helps millions of people unleash their ideas and turn them into promising new ventures—solving global challenges and strengthening economic stability around the world. During one week each November, more than 25,000 events, activities and competitions in 140 countries connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors.

Look out for the impact report on GEW 2015 – coming soon.
