Art Legacy Unveiled

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

‘Legacy’, an art and fashion exhibition, in tribute to internationally renowned Saint Lucian Artist, the late Honourable Sir Dunstan St. Omer, was launched at the Alliance Francaise Pyramid at Pointe Seraphine, on Monday evening.

It was a magical setting with family, friends and art enthusiasts gathering for a cocktail reception to celebrate the launch of the new exhibition.

In attendance was the Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy plus members of the diplomatic corps, officials of the Alliance Francaise, Honourable Derek Walcott, Senator Kentry Jn Pierre and Lady Cynthia St. Omer.

The exhibition showcased the fantastic paintings of Sir Dunstan’s eldest sons Alwyn and Luigi St Omer and the innovative crochet fashion of his daughter-in-law Marcella.

The Amy Winehouse Steel Pan Orchestra from the Boys Training Centre featured along with a mini exhibition of art and craft plus a fashion show.

‘Legacy’ was an exhilarating tribute; an attempt in painting and fashion to capture the beautiful landscape and culture of Saint Lucia, whilst also introducing abstract themes on climate change, in tribute to a Saint Lucian legend.

‘Legacy’ ran for one week, ending yesterday. The exhibition was sponsored by TEPA, LIME, Alliance Francaise, By Charlie, House of St Omer and St Omer Art Institute.

From the tryptych ‘Masquerade’ - a popular theme with Alwyn St. Omer.

Piece entitled ‘Music in the Market’.
