Salsa Saint Lucia - not just a Latin Dance Group!
Humanitarianism is one of the core values that the non-profit organisation Salsa Saint Lucia upholds. Salsa Saint Lucia CEO and founder, Dr. Peter St. Rose, has expressed his concern for the sick, less fortunate, underprivileged and those at risk in our country. He is passionate about contributing towards various causes in a meaningful and impactful way. The members of Salsa Saint Lucia are also ardent believers in, and supporters of, philanthropy. This voluntary support was demonstrated vividly in 2015 through Salsa Saint Lucia’s various benevolent endeavours. Two major charitable events were hosted in 2015. The first, Salsa Saint Lucia Goes Pink, was held in October 2015 in support of breast cancer awareness and the “Cause the Cure”. At this event $1,500 was raised for Faces of Cancer. The most recent charity event, dubbed Blackout and held on 11th December, was hosted in support of the Upton Gardens Girls’ Centre and the Women’s Support Centre. The monetary proceeds from this event, as well as the various hamper contributions from sponsors and members, facilitated Salsa Saint Lucia’s donations of $1,000 plus seven hampers to each of the centres.
This aid would not have been possible without the generous support of sponsors and members. Heartfelt thanks go to Salsa Saint Lucia members, patrons, Kizomba St. Lucia, Massy Distribution, Devon Biscuits, Peter & Co Distribution, SMJ Beverages, Winfresh LTD, CPJ, Glace Supermarket, Sunshine Cereals, Blue Waters, JP Chenet, Chairmans Reserve, Bay Gardens Hotel, Fitness Freaks Gym, Kizomba West Indies, Rissi Eklectic Couture, Sunshine Industries, Touch Therapies, M&C Drug Store, Atwell Dalgliesh, Ultramart Supermarket, Radio Carribean International, Sunshine Snacks, Sophia’s Fruitcakes, Diamonds International, and RJ Clarke.
Salsa Saint Lucia’s benevolent agenda will continue throughout 2016 via various charitable events and initiatives. The organisation welcomes the continued support of the public through volunteering, attending the parties and events, and joining the classes. Salsa Saint Lucia’s first party for the year takes place at Blu Hotel on Friday 29th January. The new cycle of Beginners Latin Dance classes commences on Tuesday 2nd February at 6:00pm.
