Position for Police Commissioner Reopened

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

The STAR has been reliably informed that the applications received thus far for the position of Police Commissioner have been deemed unsuitable. As such the position will be re-advertised.

Sources have confirmed that there were two front-runners: current Acting Police Commissioner, Errol Alexander and Director of Corrections, Vern Guard. However, a senior police officer has since sought judicial review from the courts over the two applications.

The position of Police Commissioner became vacant when the last incumbent, Vernon Francois, was sent on early retirement “in the public interest”; this, after he was allegedly implicated by the IMPACS report. Errol Alexander assumed the position soon after. He is up for retirement by the second quarter of 2016.
