On Tuesday 19th January, 2016 St. Mary’s College received a timely gift that is expected to enhance learning at the reputable institution. Leevie Herelle, a past student and chairperson of the school’s 125th Anniversary Legacy Fund, presented the principal, staff and students with a 42 inch Smart TV made possible through the assistance of Courts.

According to Herelle, the gift is in keeping with a new era whereby education and teaching utilizes technology to interface more with students and certainly to enhance teaching.

“The role of the teacher is no longer seen as simply a repository of all knowledge but as a facilitator to interactive learning. And so recognizing this, we thought that as one of the leading institutions of learning here, the teaching at St. Mary’s should not be static but as active and interactive as possible, hence the reason for the donation,” Herelle said.

With young persons’ natural tendency to gravitate to technology these days he expects that the Smart TV will become quite useful and effective as a teaching aid.
