Walcotts’ Home to be Opened

The Saint Lu­cia Na­tional Trust, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Min­istry of Phys­i­cal De­vel­op­ment, Hous­ing and Ur­ban Re­newal, will host the open­ing of Wal­cott House on Sun­day 24th Jan­uary from 3:00p.m. at the Walcotts’ child­hood home, num­ber 17 Chaussée Road, Cas­tries. The event will be held un­der the dis­tin­guished aus­pices of Her Ex­cel­lency, Dame Pear­lette Louisy, Gov­er­nor Gen­eral.

The open­ing of Wal­cott House marks the com­ple­tion of phase one of the Wal­cott Place pro­ject, an ini­tia­tive of the govern­ment and the SLNT.

Wal­cott Place is de­signed to cel­e­brate the lives, works and achieve­ments of Rod­er­ick and Derek Wal­cott and to hon­our their artis­tic, lit­er­ary and in­tel­lec­tual con­tri­bu­tions to Saint Lu­cia, the Caribbean and the world.
