Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony has issued a brief statement to commemorate the birthday of a particularly long-lived national.

Said Dr. Anthony, “It is with great pride and pleasure that I convey greetings to Neomie Richardson on the occasion of her 100th birthday, today January 19, 2016. The attainment of this major milestone is worthy of note, and I join my fellow Saint Lucians here and abroad in recognising this remarkable feat. Neomie and I share our birthday month, so I am especially pleased for her. We must continue to treasure our older citizens, and do all in our power to build on the patrimony that they have handed down to us.”

Originally from the village of Canaries, Neomie migrated to Canada in 1985, at the age of 69. The centenarian has six children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Neomie Richardson.
