The “unofficial” word on the ground is that Jadia Jn Pierre Emmanuel, press secretary to the prime minister, has resigned. This after being on the job for four years. The press secretary proceeded on vacation late last year and since then Terry Finistiere has been acting in her stead.

Jadia Jn Pierre Emmanuel was appointed press secretary in 2011 following victory at the polls by the Saint Lucia Labour Party at the last general election when Kenny Anthony was sworn in as prime minister.

She has since made a name for herself, not just by calling in to various talk shows to defend the government’s position, but by also expressing her personal views on various issues on her personal Facebook page. She also introduced a government PR programme, ‘In Touch’ to Choice Television.

The STAR has also been reliably informed that a female television journalist has been identified to fill Jadia’s shoes.

Since his first stint as prime minister in 1997 until now, Kenny Anthony has had as his press secretary Claudius Francis, who also resigned, making way for Earl Bousquet. Virnette St. Omer served as press secretary under the last SLP administration.
