Trinity Lutheran Church Hosts Prayer Vigil

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

On Thursday February 18th Trinity Lutheran Church in Bisee will host a prayer vigil for Saint Lucia beginning at 6:00 a.m. and finishing at 10:00 p.m. All are welcome. Friends and staff of Trinity Lutheran Church will gather every hour on the hour for 15 minutes to pray for the nation and their communities. They are asking the public to join them at any time during the day.

“I think sometimes we, as ordinary citizens, feel an overwhelming sense of helplessness when it comes to the random acts of violence and hard times that the country is experiencing,” said Pastor Tom Spiegelberg. “James says in chapter five, ‘Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.’ We want to use this opportunity to confess our sins and pray powerfully for our nation.”

Toosheena Michoo, teacher at TLC Early Childhood Development Centre, a ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church, recently received her Saint Lucian citizenship. “God has a lot to say about being a Christian and a citizen in a country. We want to get involved in the National Day activities so we can help children and adults be guided as Christians and citizens of Saint Lucia.”

Trinity Lutheran Church will also host Lent services leading up to Easter on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. In addition, TLC Early Childhood Development Centre will have a National Day Service at 9:30 a.m. on Friday February 19th. The public is encouraged to attend any or all of the activities.

Trinity is sponsoring this activity with the encouragement of the Ministry of Social Transformation. The Ministry has planned a National Day of Prayer and Re-Dedication for our People and Country for Friday February 19th beginning 9:30 a.m. at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception based on the theme “The Journey: What it Means to be St Lucian”.

The religious community is invited to tune in to the prayer broadcast on radio and television every hour starting from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday February 18th. It has been suggested that places of worship should be opened throughout the day to facilitate the public desirous of participating in corporate prayer, fasting and meditation.
