GROS ISLET PARLIAMENTARY REPRESENTATIVE HONORS WOMEN
The Hon. Emma Hippolyte, the Parliamentary Representative for Gros Islet has honored the Women of Gros Islet District in observance of International Women’s Day.
The Event took place on Tuesday 8th March 2016 at the Bay Gardens Hotel. Sixteen women received awards for their professional development in their fields and their contributions to the district of Gros Islet and Saint Lucia. The awards ceremony included a feature address by radio personality Angie Montoute and special remarks by Dame Laurence Laurent, who was recently knighted as part of Saint Lucia’s 37th Independence Day Anniversary celebrations. The women honored were Mrs. Augusta Cox Ifill, Ethelina Emaus Hilaire, Cheryl Skeete, Gloria Khan-Graham, Mary Lewis, Mauricia Thomas-Francis, Ginette Nicholas, Jaqueline Austin, Juliana Charles, Lera Mary Pascal, Magdalene Sylvia Cadasse, Maria Hippolyte, Margaret Monplaisir, Marguerite Desir, Simona Leon-Morille and Waltrude Ambrose Patrick. Lera Pascal, on behalf of the Awardees expressed their appreciation for the recognition of their work and pledged to continue to support and assist the Constituency of Gros Islet.
This was the second consecutive year that the MP has recognized and given awards to the women of the constituency on International Women’s Day.
