GROS ISLET PAR­LIA­MEN­TARY REP­RE­SEN­TA­TIVE HON­ORS WOMEN

The Hon. Emma Hip­polyte, the Par­lia­men­tary Rep­re­sen­ta­tive for Gros Islet has honored the Women of Gros Islet District in ob­ser­vance of In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day.

The Event took place on Tues­day 8th March 2016 at the Bay Gar­dens Ho­tel. Six­teen women re­ceived awards for their pro­fes­sional de­vel­op­ment in their fields and their con­tri­bu­tions to the district of Gros Islet and Saint Lu­cia. The awards cer­e­mony in­cluded a fea­ture ad­dress by ra­dio per­son­al­ity Angie Montoute and spe­cial re­marks by Dame Lau­rence Lau­rent, who was re­cently knighted as part of Saint Lu­cia’s 37th In­de­pen­dence Day An­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions. The women honored were Mrs. Au­gusta Cox Ifill, Ethe­lina Emaus Hi­laire, Ch­eryl Skeete, Glo­ria Khan-Gra­ham, Mary Lewis, Mauri­cia Thomas-Fran­cis, Ginette Ni­cholas, Jaque­line Austin, Ju­liana Charles, Lera Mary Pas­cal, Mag­da­lene Sylvia Cadasse, Maria Hip­polyte, Mar­garet Mon­plaisir, Marguerite De­sir, Si­mona Leon-Mo­rille and Wal­trude Am­brose Pa­trick. Lera Pas­cal, on be­half of the Awardees ex­pressed their ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the recog­ni­tion of their work and pledged to con­tinue to sup­port and as­sist the Con­stituency of Gros Islet.

This was the se­cond con­sec­u­tive year that the MP has rec­og­nized and given awards to the women of the con­stituency on In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day.

Six­teen women were hon­oured on In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day by Gros Islet MP Emma Hip­polyte.
