Min­is­ter Fletcher De­liv­ers Key­note Ad­dress at High Level Caribbean Meet­ing

Athree-day re­gional meet­ing on Cy­ber Se­cu­rity and Cy­ber­crime is tak­ing place in Saint Lu­cia, co-hosted by the Govern­ment of Saint Lu­cia, the Com­mon­wealth Sec­re­tar­iat, the Caribbean Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Union and CARI­COM IMPACS.

On Fri­day 18th March, 2016 Min­is­ters with re­spon­si­bil­ity for Na­tional Se­cu­rity and for Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions met to ap­prove a high level ac­tion plan and re­ceive ex­pres­sions of in­ter­est by re­source providers and de­vel­op­ment part­ners to sup­port the im­ple­men­ta­tion of the plan.

The open­ing cer­e­mony of the High Level Min­is­te­rial Seg­ment of the meet­ing, which takes place to­day at 9.00 a.m. at the Bay Gar­dens Ho­tel, will be ad­dressed by the Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor of CARI­COM IMPACS, the Head of the Law De­vel­op­ment Sec­tion of the Com­mon­wealth Sec­re­tar­iat, and the Sec­re­tary Gen­eral of the Caribbean Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Union. Saint Lu­cia’s Min­is­ter for Pub­lic Ser­vice, Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment, En­ergy, Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy, Hon. James Fletcher, will de­liver the key­note ad­dress.

The meet­ing has at­tracted a num­ber of ex­perts from in­ter­na­tional or­ga­ni­za­tions such as Mi­crosoft Cor­po­ra­tion, In­ter­pol, the United States Fed­eral Bureau of In­ves­ti­ga­tion (FBI), the US Depart­ment of Jus­tice and the Or­ga­ni­za­tion of Amer­i­can States (OAS).
