Invest Saint Lucia and relevant Ministries work to resolve issues affecting the Augier Combined School

The Star (St. Lucia) - - COMMENT -

Invest Saint Lucia (ISL) along with the Ministries responsible for Health, Agriculture and Education, as well as other relevant government agencies, would like to inform the public, and in particular the Augier community, that a joint committee of the said agencies and Ministries is working assiduously to resolve the long-standing issue of the odour emanating from the operational processes of various poultry farmers in the Augier community, and its adverse impact on the Augier Combined School and its environs.

In order therefore to achieve an equitable and practical solution to this issue, it is imperative that due consideration is given to the valid interests and concerns of all affected parties. Indeed, the current circumstances of this issue do not lend to an overnight solution, but ISL, along with its partner agencies, is committed to ensuring a final and permanent solution.

In that regard, remedies, both temporary and permanent, are being pursued jointly with the requisite urgency and dispatch.

ISL and the Ministries with responsibility for Agriculture, Education and Health take the opportunity to convey deepest regrets for the inconvenience and disruption caused to students and staff of the Augier Combined School and ask for even more patience and forbearance as this longstanding but difficult problem is definitively and satisfactorily settled as quickly as is humanly possible.
