Heineken Kicks Off UCL Promotions
You may have already noticed the rebranded Heineken billboards and bus shelters across the island. The signature trophy that captures the eyes and imagination could mean only one thing - UEFA Champions League fever is on - and once again Heineken is a big part of the local promotions, not to mention the highly anticipated and popular viewing party for the finals.
Heineken is a longstanding sponsor of the UEFA Champions League and, as such, the brand has kicked off its annual local UCL promotion with supermarket giveaways, radio and media blitz as well as bar promotions islandwide where persons can win exclusive VIP passes to the viewing party and other prizes.
Heineken is also a sponsor of the annual Fantasy Football organized by the local FA, which coincides with the international matches of the UEFA Champions League.
According to Heineken Brand Manager Gaius Harry, the Heineken brand has a long-standing sponsorship with the UEFA Champions League as the global, premier sporting event fits perfectly with the Heineken brand, being the world’s most international premium beer. Heineken will be bringing its sponsorship to over 220 countries and territories including Saint Lucia, via marketing and PR efforts with the theme Champion the Match.
“For this year’s campaign we are focusing on at least six bars which will be the focal points for our branding, Heineken specials and promotions during the games,” Harry says. These bars will include Plants Place in Dennery, River Bank in Micoud; Tripple D’s on Jeremie Street in Castries; Rainbow 2000 in Grande Riviere and Whispers in Soufriere.
Additionally Heineken has kicked off its UCL supermarket promotions. “For every two sixpacks purchased one will receive an instant UCL gift while stocks last as well as an entry form for a chance to win even more amazing prizes including UCL merchandise,” Harry says.
The grand prize-winner will either choose to watch the UEFA finals on his/her prize of a 55 inch flat screen TV or claim their VIP spot at the viewing party in May.
The viewing party will once again be held at the Derek Walcott Square and is expected to be bigger and more exciting this year.
The Heineken UEFA Champions League promotion runs from March 21-May 15, 2016. The 2016 UEFA Champions League Finals will be played at the San Siro stadium in Milan, Italy on May 28, 2016.
