Pawa­sol Pour Ti Ma­mai Spon­sored Walk

Acall is go­ing out for per­sons to turn out in large num­bers to sup­port this Sun­day's Pawa­sol Pour Ti Ma­mai spon­sored walk.

Pawa­sol Pour Ti Ma­mai is a Saint Lu­cian char­i­ta­ble or­gan­i­sa­tion and, as its name sug­gests, its pri­mary pur­pose it to raise funds for chil­dren in need.

The group has been in ex­is­tence since Septem­ber 2007 and over the last 8 years has raised and dis­bursed over $500,000 to as­sist chil­dren through­out Saint Lu­cia who need help in a range of ar­eas: med­i­cal surg­eries, med­i­ca­tion for chronic ail­ments, spe­cial needs pro­grammes and the pro­vi­sion of ba­sic school needs for chil­dren whose fam­i­lies have dif­fi­culty pro­vid­ing all the things nec­es­sary such as books, uni­forms, trans­porta­tion costs and reg­u­lar meals.

In or­der to raise the funds nec­es­sary the vol­un­teer or­gan­is­ers of Pawa­sol Pour Ti Ma­mai have ar­ranged quiz nights, flea mar­kets, Os­car nights and lunch and tea func­tions. They have pro­duced and sold cook­books, cal­en­dars and greet­ing cards and now they are un­der­tak­ing this spon­sored walk.

The walk, sched­uled for to­mor­row, will be­gin at 6 a.m. It will be a five-mile walk start­ing and end­ing near The Land­ings and peo­ple are en­cour­aged to ei­ther par­tic­i­pate or spon­sor a walker.

All the funds raised will be used to help Saint Lu­cian chil­dren in need. Re­quests are reg­u­larly re­ceived from school prin­ci­pals, med­i­cal doc­tors, so­cial work­ers and com­mu­nity groups for as­sis­tance so Pawa­sol Pour Ti Ma­mai needs all the help it can get.
