DTEMS Students’ Council visits the Bordelais Correctional Facility
The students’ council attached to the Division of Technical Education and Management Studies (DTEMS) at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) toured the Bordelais Correctional Facility on Thursday.
The educational tour was organized by the DTEMS Students’ Council to help students understand the role of the Bordelais Correctional Facility in our society and learn about various career opportunities that are available at the facility.
“This educational tour,” Nyhymn Terrance, the President of the DTEMS Students’ Council noted, “is an excellent opportunity to expose students to career pathways in our prison. This project is also in line with the “Youth #FULLPotential project the Saint Lucia National Youth Council and the Saint Lucia National Students’ Council are doing - expose students to various career pathways and enlighten them on how to get there.”
Last month, The DTEMS Students’ Council presented a cheque to Help Age Saint Lucia National Council of and for Older Persons. The presentation was a followup from the charity show “Christmas ShellDown” held in December 2015.
To commemorate Youth Month in April 2016, the council has planned debates and other education and recreational activities for students at SALCC.
