She.lc: the cultural event to celebrate International Women Day
She.lc, the cultural event organized by the Embassies of Spain and Mexico in partnership with Alliance Française, took place on March 22nd, 2016 at the National Cultural Centre.
The event was divided into two parts: an exhibition of paintings and photographs that was exposed at the hall of the NCC, and a show with Saint Lucian artists under the theme: “Women”.
For approximately one hour and a half, the artists played Spanish, Mexican, French and English songs dedicated to women, such as “Lucia” of the Spanish singer Joan Manuel Serrat, and “Les yeux de la mama” of the French singer Kendji Girac. Performances included dance, poetry and even a pantomime over the Mexican song “Mujeres Divinas”.
All the artists that participated at the event came from different Saint Lucian artists’ associations such as Headphunk, YouthSPAC, C-Paf and Silver Shadow Dance Academy under the artistic direction of Ms. Kentilia Louis.
The Minister of Health. Wellness, Human Services and Gender Relations, the Honourable Alvina Reynolds, attended the event along with the Ambassadors of Mexico, Cuba and France, the Chargé d´Affaires of Spain and other representatives of the diplomatic corps. More than 300 people filled the National Cultural Centre and enjoyed the high quality cultural event that is intended to have a permanent place in the cultural agenda of Saint Lucia.
