the cul­tural event to cel­e­brate In­ter­na­tional Women Day

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -, the cul­tural event or­ga­nized by the Em­bassies of Spain and Mex­ico in partnership with Al­liance Française, took place on March 22nd, 2016 at the Na­tional Cul­tural Cen­tre.

The event was di­vided into two parts: an ex­hi­bi­tion of paint­ings and pho­to­graphs that was ex­posed at the hall of the NCC, and a show with Saint Lu­cian artists un­der the theme: “Women”.

For ap­prox­i­mately one hour and a half, the artists played Span­ish, Mex­i­can, French and English songs ded­i­cated to women, such as “Lu­cia” of the Span­ish singer Joan Manuel Ser­rat, and “Les yeux de la mama” of the French singer Kendji Girac. Per­for­mances in­cluded dance, po­etry and even a pan­tomime over the Mex­i­can song “Mu­jeres Div­inas”.

All the artists that par­tic­i­pated at the event came from dif­fer­ent Saint Lu­cian artists’ as­so­ci­a­tions such as Head­phunk, YouthSPAC, C-Paf and Sil­ver Shadow Dance Academy un­der the artis­tic di­rec­tion of Ms. Ken­tilia Louis.

The Min­is­ter of Health. Wellness, Hu­man Ser­vices and Gen­der Re­la­tions, the Hon­ourable Alv­ina Reynolds, at­tended the event along with the Am­bas­sadors of Mex­ico, Cuba and France, the Chargé d´Af­faires of Spain and other rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the diplo­matic corps. More than 300 peo­ple filled the Na­tional Cul­tural Cen­tre and en­joyed the high qual­ity cul­tural event that is in­tended to have a per­ma­nent place in the cul­tural agenda of Saint Lu­cia.
