The keynote address was presented by ACP Pelius. The highlight of the address noted the sacrifice, commitment and contribution which members of the Association had made towards citizen security and, by extension, the preservation of our national stability.
Pelius spoke about the encouragement of a partnership between the Association and the R.S.L.P.F. in making a difference in society. She also spoke about respect for each other on the Association and how members can make a positive impact on the lives of youth and elderly in the society, especially women and retired police officers.
ACP Pelius also highlighted the challenges experienced by members for training they pursued during the time of service which could be used to encourage and help young police officers. She lamented the challenge of indiscipline and law enforcement was no exception, referring to technology which has not impacted positively to the extent expected on discipline.
She urged members to promote the spirit of goodwill among themselves “because the energy of goodwill is a powerful force for social change”. In conclusion she also encouraged all members of the Ex-Police Association to dialogue with the R.S.L.P.F. and feel free to give any form of support that will better the force as its officers strive to make a difference in our society and make our country a better place in which to live and work.
