May is Reading Month!

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

The Month of May is observed here in Saint Lucia annually as ‘Reading Month” by the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour. Reading is key to all learning and, consequently, learning to read is the most important skill that every child must develop to be successful at school. Research has shown that there is a strong correlation between reading and academic success. And throughout the month of May students and young people are encouraged to read, as many local businesses lend support to reading activities in schools. Look out for special activities and incentives during the month of May at the bookYard located at the STAR Publishing Compound in Massade, Gros Islet.
