What can the people of the South say? After all, they are still waiting for the promised better days, not to mention the promised “new frontier” that Vieux Fort was promised to become by both administrations. - Picant

The Saint Lucia Government will continue supporting the efforts of the Cyprus Government for the achievement of a “just, viable and functional solution of the Cyprus problem,” Governor MacDonald Dixon, Saint Lucia’s Deputy, stressed on Thursday.

Receiving the credentials of Vasilis Philippou, the new Cypriot High Commissioner stationed in New York, Dixon thanked the Cypriot Government for the scholarships it offered to the government of Saint Lucia.

According to an official press release, presenting his credentials, Philippou informed Dixon about the current state of affairs regarding the Cyprus talks and pledged to work hard to enhance bilateral relations, especially in the fields of tourism, education and maritime affairs.

In the framework of his visit, Philippou held a meeting with Foreign Minister Alva Romanus Baptiste and other government officials.
