Notice of Election of a Member of the Electoral District of Castries South/East
Her Excellency the Governor-General having issued Her Writ for the Election of a member of the House of Assembly for the Castries South/East Electoral District the Returning Officer of the said district will on the 27th May, 2016, now next ensuing between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and noon at Returning Officer’s office proceed to the nomination, and if there is no opposition, to the election of a member for the Castries South/East Electoral District.
Forms of the nomination papers may be obtained at the office of Bexon Parish Hall between the hours of 9.00 a. m and 3.00 p. m. daily except on Wednesday when the office is closed at 12.00 p.m. (Sunday also excepted).
Every nomination paper must be signed by any six or more electors qualified to vote in the Castries South/East Electoral District and be handed to the Returning Officer between the said hours of 9.00 a.m. and noon. No nomination paper shall be valid or acted upon by the Returning Officer unless it is accompanied by:- (a) the consent in writing of the person therein nominated; (b) a deposit of $500.00 in cash; and (c) a coloured passport size photo.
In the event of election being contested the poll will take place between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. on 6th June, 2016. An advance poll will take place between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. on Friday 3rd June, 2016. The counting of votes will take place at Returning Officer’s office on the hours of 9.00 a. m. and at such places as may hereafter be appointed. Unless requested, a recount shall be taken only when the difference between the number of candidates is not more than three per cent (3%) of the total votes cast. The office of the Returning Officer for the Castries South/East Electoral District is situated at the Bexon Parish Hall Returning Officer for the Castries South/East Electoral District.
