High level Cuban delegation visits Baron Foods Limited

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

Baron Foods Limited, Saint Lucia's leading manufacturing company, on Tuesday 31st May, 2016, welcomed a high level delegation from Cuba. The delegation was led by the Cuban Deputy Minister of Trade and Foreign Investment, Her Excellency Ileana Nuñez Mordoche.

The Coordinator for Caribbean affairs at the same Ministry, Mr. Jesus Gonzales Perez, and the Ambassador of Cuba in Saint Lucia, His Excellency Jorge Soberon, were also part of the team.

They were taken on a guided tour of the state-of-theart operations of Baron Foods Limited at Vieux Fort.

The visitors were obviously impressed to have seen the full operation at work, along with certification processes being enforced.

Baron Foods Limited Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ronald Ramjattan, said it was a pleasure to welcome the Cuban delegation.

Mr. Ramjattan disclosed that they had arrived at a time when his company is about to do business with Cuba.

Last year the Baron Foods Limited CEO attended the Havana International Fair, FIHAV 2015, as his company moved closer to exporting its world-class products to Cuba. Mr. Ramjattan's goal is to create an export path to Cuba where other local companies can follow.

This amid anticipation of the Spanish-speaking country opening up to business with the rest of the world as the United States continues to normalize relations with Havana.

Baron Foods Limited already has plants located in three Caribbean countries, manufactures over 150 products and has a network of distributors in the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, the United States and Asia.
