The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD wishes to congratulate Prime Minister The Honourable Allen Michael Chastanet and the United Workers Party for their victory in the 2016 general elections.

The council closely followed the election campaigns and was pleased to see that both major political parties made certain assurances for the betterment of the lives of persons with disabilities and their families.

The newly elected government’s pledges to the disabled sector of our population, which can be read on page 51 of the UWP manifesto, are indeed commendable and will be extremely impactful on the lives of differently able persons if implemented. These eleven points will therefore guide our council in monitoring and assessing this administration’s commitment to ensuring that the disabled citizens of Saint Lucia are assured dignity, full participation in our nation’s affairs and access to all services and amenities.

The NCPD therefore wishes this new Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister The Honourable Allen Chastanet, greatest of success in making Saint Lucia better for all!
