Gift of Playground Equipment to CGDC
On Thursday 28th July the Rotary Club of Gros Islet formally handed over to the Child Guidance Development Centre (CGDC) specialised playground equipment for children with special needs.
For the past twenty-three years the Rotary Club of Gros Islet has hosted an annual Charity Golf Tournament. One hundred percent of the proceeds have been invested in the community through charitable projects. In the Rotary year 2015-2016 over $170,000 and countless hours of service were expended on projects throughout Saint Lucia.
President of the Rotary Club of Gros Islet, Astrid Mondesir, stated that the project of specialised playground equipment fits neatly with the club’s 2015-2016 Rotary theme ‘Being a gift to the world’.
The playground equipment ranges from a swing set, a slide set, a playhouse and a musical wall to a large pit with air-filled soft plastic balls. The equipment stands on a cushioned surface in case a child should fall. With this equipment, the children can now enjoy their play time to the fullest with a facility that fully accommodates them.
