In it for the win! Leverne Spencer gains full support from Government for today’s Final
The Saint Lucian Government has united with the nation to express delectation at Leverne Spencer’s achievement of qualifying for the Women’s High Jump Final in Rio, Brazil today August 20, 2016.
Olympian qualifier Leverne Spencer appears to be in good form after clearing the qualifying height of 1.94m, previously achieving heights of 1.80m, 1.85m, 1.89 m and 1.92m. What seemed a feat to many of her contenders, Spencer executed with both poise and confidence.
The Government has asked that we all join in as a nation to express our support for Spencer through her social media platform as she seeks to bring home the Olympic medal. The women’s final is scheduled for 7:30pm today.
Meantime, the Government also congratulates Jeannelle Scheper who delivered a consistent performance clearing the bar at 1.80 m, 1.85 m and 1.89 m. However, her attempt to clear the bar at 1.92m was not successful and she was unable to proceed to the finals. The hope is that this promising and very talented athlete will set her sights on Tokyo 2020.
Hopes are high for Leverne Spencer to bring home an Olympic medal.
