Duty calls in Asia for PM Chas­tanet

Saint Lu­cia’s Prime Min­is­ter Honourable Allen Chas­tanet has stated his in­ten­tion to re­port to the na­tion on a reg­u­lar ba­sis, rep­re­sent­ing the in­ter­est of the coun­try abroad.

“The gov­ern­ment re­gards re­port­ing back to the peo­ple as part of our na­tional duty,” he stated. “We take it se­ri­ously, so they can ex­pect to hear from me while off is­land, of course us­ing the avail­able tech­nol­ogy”, he con­cluded.

Chas­tanet com­mit­ted him­self to keep­ing the pub­lic duly in­formed prior to his Asian trip slated for Au­gust 17 to 26. He is trav­el­ling to the Peo­ple’s Re­pub­lic of China, fol­low­ing in­vi­ta­tion from ma­jor in­vestor and Chair­man of Desert Star Hold­ings Lim­ited, Mr. Teo Ah Khing. Dur­ing his trip he will visit sev­eral of the com­pany’s in­vest­ments. He wel­comes the op­por­tu­nity to con­firm or dis­pel first-hand some spec­u­la­tion sur­round­ing the com­pany’s track record.

Desert Star Hold­ings signed a Frame­work Agree­ment with the Gov­ern­ment of Saint Lu­cia in July, re­sult­ing in an aver­age USD 2.6 bil­lion in­vest­ment pro­ject ti­tled “Pearl of the Caribbean”. The pro­ject is ear­marked for Vieux Fort.

Chas­tanet will also pay a cour­tesy visit to the Re­pub­lic of China in Tai­wan, where he will have pre­lim­i­nary meet­ings with gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials, with the in­tent of lay­ing the ground­work for an of­fi­cial state visit later this year by the new Saint Lu­cian Ad­min­is­tra­tion. The Prime Min­is­ter will also visit with Saint Lu­cian stu­dents and Saint Lu­cia’s Em­bassy in Tai­wan, dur­ing which time Hon. Dr. Gale T. C. Rigob­ert will be the Act­ing Prime Min­is­ter.

Min­is­ter Flood will ac­com­pany the Prime Min­is­ter at a later date on the Tai­wan leg of the trip.
