The Ministry of Education on Monday delivered several laptops to the Community Relations branch of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. Minister of Education, Dr. Gale Rigobert, made the presentation. She said the initiative is aimed at advancing the methods of dealing with delinquency in the island’s schools.

She said her ministry expected the technology to assist in research development and education. During the handing over ceremony Dr. Rigobert cited with obvious pleasure the “renewed collaboration between the Education Ministry and the Community Relations branch of the police force.”

She told recipients: “I anticipate that with these additional tools you can enhance our levels of efficiency and broaden your intervention as we continue to partner to bring delinquency at our schools under control. I trust that the area of suspension that we continue to collaborate on will receive not only additional resources in terms of hardware, but also in terms of technical assistance.”

Also in attendance on Monday was Justice and National Security Minister, Senator Hermangild Francis. His ministry has responsibility for the operations of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.

In his thank-you address he said: “Our youth are in a crisis. It is good that we have a department in the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force that deals with sometimes volatile youngsters. It is important to approach crime situations in a holistic way, and we need to start with our young people.”

Education Minister Gale Rigobert welcomed this week by the RSLPF’s Community Relations Branch.
