Gov­ern­ment Con­grat­u­lates New High Com­mis­sioner to London

Mr. Guy May­ers is Saint Lu­cia’s new High Com­mis­sioner to London. Prime Min­is­ter Allen Chas­tanet made the an­nounce­ment ear­lier this week dur­ing the sit­ting of the House of Par­lia­ment. In mak­ing the an­nounce­ment, he openly con­grat­u­lated Mr. May­ers on his ap­point­ment on be­half of the Gov­ern­ment and peo­ple of Saint Lu­cia.

Dur­ing the par­lia­men­tary sit­ting, the PM ad­mon­ished the public on com­ments that may po­ten­tially hard the im­age of the coun­try. “We should be try­ing to get this coun­try on its feet again not try­ing to bring her down. We have been open and trans­par­ent with the ap­point­ment of Mr. May­ers which is more than I can say for the ap­point­ment of pre­vi­ous am­bas­sadors.” The prime min­is­ter com­mented.

Speak­ing of his ap­point­ment Mr. May­ers ex­pressed thanks to the Prime Min­is­ter and the gov­ern­ment and stated that he was hon­oured to hold the post. “I look for­ward to pur­su­ing and ar­tic­u­lat­ing the poli­cies of the gov­ern­ment,” Mr. May­ers said. He con­tin­ued, “and to help at­tract for­eign in­vest­ment to our coun­try. I am mind­ful of our cur­rent un­em­ploy­ment sit­u­a­tion and I hope to fa­cil­i­tate op­por­tu­ni­ties for young peo­ple. I pledge to make my coun­try proud.”

Mr. May­ers is a for­mer pres­i­dent of the Saint Lu­cia Cham­ber of Com­merce and also a for­mer min­is­ter for Trade and Com­merce.

For­mer Trade and Com­merce Min­is­ter Guy May­ers will com­mence his duty as Saint Lu­cia’s High Com­mis­sioner to London.
