RICS & IPTI concludes Global Conference in Saint Lucia
The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the International Property Tax Institute recently concluded their Global Conference held in Saint Lucia at the Bay Gardens Hotel. The conference was dubbed ‘Recent Developments and Experiences Sharing in Valuation and Construction in the Caribbean Public and Private Sector Perspectives.’
The informative threeday conference drew scores of participants from around the world to engage in lively discussions as each expressed their respective experiences from both the private and public sectors. Participants were drawn from the OECS and the Americas and included renowned experts and presenters from Europe and England, as well as Africa and the Caribbean.
Addressing the conference was Senator Jimmy Henry, Minster for Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Cooperatives. Also addressing the delegates were representatives from RICS Americas, IPTI as well as Mr Celsus Baptiste, coordinator, presenter, and a member of Institute of Surveyors St. Lucia Inc.
The conference focused on trends and procedures in valuation, assessments, property tax, project management, arbitration and expert witnessing, to name a few. There were other topics covered which saw participants from other OECS islands presenting on development strategies as to relates to land investment and property management.
In addition, the event allowed various companies to showcase their products and services. mong them was Harris paints and Massy United Insurance, both of whom were sponsors of the event.
According to the organizations, overall the conference was a huge success as many issues were highlighted and dealt with. Participants expressed satisfaction with the overall running of the conference and also stated the goals and objectives were attained throughout the two-day event.
