Soufriere Comprehensive are Under-19 Netball champs
Having already won the Under-15 Schools Netball title, Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School did the double, by winning the Under-19 Netball title in Wednesday's final played at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.
The Under-19 final was a highly competitive affair with Soufriere coming away with a 40-32 win over Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC).
It was a seesaw battle all the way, which saw SALCC going ahead 10-8 after the first quarter, and at the half led 2016.
Going into the fourth quarter it was 26-24 in favor of SALCC, but then the tide turned. Soufriere out played SALCC in the latter part of the fourth quarter, as national player Megan Nestor dominated play.
Nestor led the winning side netting 33 of 37 attempts. Her sister Dessie Nestor scored seven from nine attempts.
For Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC), goal attack Siana Jameson connected on 23 from 33 attempts, while goal shoot Alana Paul made five from 10 attempts.
In the Third Place Playoff that preceded the final, Micoud Secondary School had a tussle on their hand, but eventually squeaked past St Joseph's Convent 32-30.
Goal Shoot Merkissa Theodule led the way for Micoud with 21 goals from 27 attempts. Goal attack Kiana Nelson was successful on 11 from 14 attempts.
For St Joseph's Convent goal shoot Britney Desir connected on 12 from 15 attempts and Britney McDonald made nine from 11 attempts.
