Soufriere Com­pre­hen­sive are Un­der-19 Net­ball champs

Hav­ing al­ready won the Un­der-15 Schools Net­ball ti­tle, Soufriere Com­pre­hen­sive Sec­ondary School did the dou­ble, by win­ning the Un­der-19 Net­ball ti­tle in Wed­nes­day's fi­nal played at the Beause­jour In­door Fa­cil­ity.

The Un­der-19 fi­nal was a highly com­pet­i­tive af­fair with Soufriere com­ing away with a 40-32 win over Sir Arthur Lewis Com­mu­nity Col­lege (SALCC).

It was a see­saw bat­tle all the way, which saw SALCC go­ing ahead 10-8 af­ter the first quar­ter, and at the half led 2016.

Go­ing into the fourth quar­ter it was 26-24 in fa­vor of SALCC, but then the tide turned. Soufriere out played SALCC in the lat­ter part of the fourth quar­ter, as na­tional player Me­gan Nestor dom­i­nated play.

Nestor led the win­ning side net­ting 33 of 37 at­tempts. Her sis­ter Dessie Nestor scored seven from nine at­tempts.

For Sir Arthur Lewis Com­mu­nity Col­lege (SALCC), goal at­tack Siana Jame­son con­nected on 23 from 33 at­tempts, while goal shoot Alana Paul made five from 10 at­tempts.

In the Third Place Play­off that pre­ceded the fi­nal, Mi­coud Sec­ondary School had a tus­sle on their hand, but even­tu­ally squeaked past St Joseph's Con­vent 32-30.

Goal Shoot Merkissa Theo­d­ule led the way for Mi­coud with 21 goals from 27 at­tempts. Goal at­tack Kiana Nelson was suc­cess­ful on 11 from 14 at­tempts.

For St Joseph's Con­vent goal shoot Brit­ney De­sir con­nected on 12 from 15 at­tempts and Brit­ney McDon­ald made nine from 11 at­tempts.
