Junior Achievement and Scotiabank team up
Scotiabank has partnered with Junior Achievement to start an Economics for Success Programme. In keeping with Scotiabank’s global philanthropic mandate to support the youth through education, this programme is focused on gearing up young adults to prepare them for the world of work and empowering them to make appropriate choices about their future careers. As part of this programme, Junior Achievement launched an “Innovation Camp” where six secondary schools throughout the island participated in a live resolution activity: the students proposed ideas for finding new tech solutions to improve family savings towards education.
The St. Joseph’s Convent was the winner of the challenge with its unique idea of “Netflix and Save”. The students received a Certificate of Achievement and, as the winners of the challenge, will represent Saint Lucia in the regional competition which will be scheduled for a later date this year. During the closing of the event all schools received a Certificate of Participation from Junior Achievement.
