Spe­cialty Caribbean Expo this Week­end

For busi­ness to grow, busi­ness must help busi­ness.” That was the un­der­ly­ing mes­sage on Thurs­day, March 9 at the of­fi­cial open­ing of the Spe­cialty Caribbean Expo at the Daren Sammy Cricket Sta­dium. The re­marks came from CEO of Amer­i­jet, Fran­cilia Scott. Amer­i­jet is the pre­sent­ing spon­sor of the Expo. Other speak­ers on the oc­ca­sion in­cluded Richard Du Boulay, Chair­man of the Na­tional Ex­port Coun­cil, and Pres­i­dent of the Saint Lu­cia Man­u­fac­tur­ing As­so­ci­a­tion; Natasha Ed­win-Wal­cott, Re­search, Pol­icy Ad­vo­cacy and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Man­ager of In­vest Saint Lu­cia; Di­dier Deris from the Mar­tinique Cham­ber of Com­merce; Didi­cus Jules, Direc­tor Gen­eral, OECS; Com­merce Min­is­ter Bradley Felix, and Prime Min­is­ter Allen Chas­tanet. Saint Lu­cia’s Prime Min­is­ter and Com­merce Min­is­ter both par­tic­i­pated in the sym­bolic cut­ting of the rib­bon and de­clared the event open.

The Expo will con­tinue this week­end at the Daren Sammy Cricket Sta­dium. Among ac­tiv­i­ties sched­uled are sem­i­nars and meet­ings on top­ics rang­ing from Sell­ing to the UK Mar­ket, to roadmap­ping ex­port­ing ser­vices in wider mar­kets. A mu­sic work­shop, film screen­ings, an OECS ‘ex­poZING Mu­sic’ showcase, and busi­ness mixer form part of the ac­tiv­i­ties slated for Satur­day, March 11, while the Expo fea­tur­ing busi­nesses from around the Caribbean is open to the pub­lic, and will run through­out the day. On Sun­day there will be an­other film screen­ing, a last lap round of the Expo, and a clos­ing cer­e­mony.
