On the heels of Spe­cialty Caribbean EXPO 2017, the Saint Lu­cia Trade Ex­port Pro­mo­tion Agency (TEPA) moved straight into the con­tin­u­a­tion of its Ex­port Strat­egy ca­pac­ity-build­ing pro­gramme which be­gan in Jan­uary. The train­ing is be­ing led by the In­ter­na­tional Trade Cen­tre (ITC) based in Geneva and is in­tended to strengthen lo­cal ca­pac­ity to de­sign, im­ple­ment, mon­i­tor and up­date trade de­vel­op­ment strate­gies.

To this end, an ITC con­tin­gent is on the ground for one week for this pur­pose. A se­ries of stake­holder con­sul­ta­tions and bi­lat­eral meet­ings with key agen­cies be­gan on Tues­day March 15th, 2017. Stake­holder con­sul­ta­tions are in­tended to serve as a high-pro­file in­au­gu­ra­tion that in­forms the na­tional com­mu­nity of the Na­tional Ex­port Strat­egy. It will also drive home the crit­i­cal im­por­tance of ac­tive en­gage­ment with, and par­tic­i­pa­tion of, pri­vate and pub­lic sec­tor stake­hold­ers in the de­sign and im­ple­men­ta­tion of the Na­tional Ex­port Strat­egy. This will con­clude with fur­ther dis­cus­sion with the na­tional con­sul­tant and nav­i­ga­tor who will be re­spon­si­ble for draft­ing the Na­tional Ex­port Strat­egy (NES) doc­u­ment.

A na­tional Core Com­mit­tee com­pris­ing rel­e­vant stake­hold­ers from the pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tor has been formed to over­see, ad­vise and di­rect the NES team in for­mu­la­tion of this strat­egy.
