SANDALS UPDATE ON INJURED TEAM MEMBERS
Sandals Chairman Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart said his thoughts and prayers are with all the affected team members who were involved in a vehicular accident in Choc Bay, Saint Lucia earlier this week. Stewart wished a speedy recovery to all involved, and gave his assurance that the company would be there for them in their time of need.
At around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning a staff bus with 15 team members was heading to the Sandals Grande Resort when, on approaching the Morgan Bay resort in Choc Bay, a car heading in the opposite direction appeared to lose control; it hit the bus, which veered off course and was about to collide with a truck. Quick action by the driver avoided the collision with the truck; however, the bus ran into a wall.
After the incident team members had high praise for the driver, saying the incident could have been worse if not for his fast thinking.
Sandals Resorts has expressed a special thank you to the entire management and staff of the Morgan Bay resort who rushed to the assistance of the injured team members, providing care and comfort, and even helping with transportation as they awaited the arrival of the emergency services.
“They truly went above and beyond the call of duty, and their compassion in providing aid to our team members truly exemplifies the spirit of comradery and friendship among the hospitality sector here in Saint Lucia,” a release from the company stated.
Words of gratitude also went out to the doctors and staff of the Victoria Hospital. The majority of staff members involved in the accident suffered cuts and bruises and were eventually discharged.
