Gros Islet SLP Constituency Group Elects New Officers at AGM
The Gros Islet SLP Constituency Group conducted its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, August 26th, 2017 at the Corinth Secondary School. The theme for this year’s meeting was ‘Strengthening Labour to Govern Again’. Speaking at the event, Ms Emma Hippolyte, former parliamentary representative for Gros Islet and presently the endorsed SLP candidate for the constituency, expressed thanks for the support she had received during her stint as parliamentary representative, and continued to receive. Chairman of the Outgoing Management Committee, Mr Johnathan Satney, reported on the Management Committee’s term of office. He thanked the Committee for “holding down the fort” while the Constituency Group tried to come to terms with the defeat of the last general election. Mr Urban Dolor, former Principal of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, delivered the feature address. Parliamentary representatives as well as endorsed candidates of the other constituencies delivered messages of solidarity. Political Leader, Philip J Pierre, anchored the proceedings.
Last week’s meeting also saw the election of new officers to the constituency group. The following were elected into office: Rosie Fregis - Chairperson; Sharon Ephraim - Vice Chairperson; Anselma James - Secretary; Frankie Gustave - Treasurer; Sherrie Defreitas - Women’s Officer; Michelle Ann Philbert - Youth Officer, and Jennifer Gaston - PRO. Alvin Paul, John Joseph and Marietta Edward will serve as Trustees. Hon Alva Baptiste, Parliamentary representative for Laborie officiated the election of officers.
