Gros Islet SLP Con­stituency Group Elects New Of­fi­cers at AGM

The Gros Islet SLP Con­stituency Group con­ducted its An­nual Gen­eral Meet­ing on Satur­day, Au­gust 26th, 2017 at the Corinth Sec­ondary School. The theme for this year’s meet­ing was ‘Strength­en­ing Labour to Gov­ern Again’. Speak­ing at the event, Ms Emma Hip­polyte, for­mer par­lia­men­tary rep­re­sen­ta­tive for Gros Islet and presently the en­dorsed SLP can­di­date for the con­stituency, ex­pressed thanks for the sup­port she had re­ceived dur­ing her stint as par­lia­men­tary rep­re­sen­ta­tive, and con­tin­ued to re­ceive. Chair­man of the Out­go­ing Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee, Mr Johnathan Sat­ney, re­ported on the Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee’s term of of­fice. He thanked the Com­mit­tee for “hold­ing down the fort” while the Con­stituency Group tried to come to terms with the de­feat of the last gen­eral elec­tion. Mr Ur­ban Dolor, for­mer Prin­ci­pal of Sir Arthur Lewis Com­mu­nity Col­lege, de­liv­ered the fea­ture ad­dress. Par­lia­men­tary rep­re­sen­ta­tives as well as en­dorsed can­di­dates of the other con­stituen­cies de­liv­ered mes­sages of sol­i­dar­ity. Po­lit­i­cal Leader, Philip J Pierre, an­chored the pro­ceed­ings.

Last week’s meet­ing also saw the elec­tion of new of­fi­cers to the con­stituency group. The fol­low­ing were elected into of­fice: Rosie Fregis - Chair­per­son; Sharon Ephraim - Vice Chair­per­son; Anselma James - Sec­re­tary; Frankie Gus­tave - Trea­surer; Sher­rie De­fre­itas - Women’s Of­fi­cer; Michelle Ann Philbert - Youth Of­fi­cer, and Jen­nifer Gas­ton - PRO. Alvin Paul, John Joseph and Ma­ri­etta Ed­ward will serve as Trustees. Hon Alva Baptiste, Par­lia­men­tary rep­re­sen­ta­tive for La­borie of­fi­ci­ated the elec­tion of of­fi­cers.
