Fire in Beausejour, Gros Islet

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL - - - K.N.

It was a smoky scene yesterday in Beausejour, Gros Islet after a fire broke out near the Gros Islet Methodist Church. The STAR arrived on the scene at 1:40 pm to a business and residential area with billows of smoke looming overhead.

A man who claimed to live across the road from the burnt building said he walked out of his house and noticed the huge plumes of black smoke, so he came down to see what was going on, although he could not provide any additional information. He and another resident observed that fire services had been present since about 10am that morning.

An employee at The Cell has confirmed that The Cell Warehouse was amongst the burnt properties. However further details on the cause and reach of the fire were still unavailable from the Gros Islet Fire Station up until press time.
