Small island with lots to offer!
St Lucia has so much to offer in the months of January & February, so here are a few tips from the Tropical Traveller team, who recommend some of their favourite things to do on the island.
Weekends are a good time to take a day out at Pigeon Island National Landmark, the park to the north of Rodney Bay which used to be an island but is now reached by road along the causeway. Paying the small fee is good value as the beaches are pristine and secluded, the grounds are full of military ruins and historical information, and the view from the top of the fort is worth the short hike for the exercise and the photo opportunities. Grab a refreshing drink at Jambe De Bois and enjoy one of the best views of Rodney Bay and Reduit Beach.

My new year’s resolution is to learn a new sport, so I’m looking at taking up golf. The Saint Lucia Golf Club in Cap Estate is part of the attraction, as it is a beautiful course, and their staff of trained professionals are able to teach you the variety if shots needed to play a decent game. It’s a lot of fun, good exercise and needs practice to master the technique, but the 19th hole (i.e. the Clubhouse) is a great place to relax after a session, so I guess I’ll give it a try!

My husband and I will be planning a special evening for Valentine’s Day in February, and in Saint Lucia there are plenty of romantic places to choose from. One of our favourite things to do is take a sunset cruise on a catamaran, enjoy some champagne or rum punch and the steel pan music in the background. Out on the water, the sunset is even more spectacular, and if you’re lucky you’ll see the green flash – at least that’s what my husband says! The best night out at the weekend is at Delirius in Rodney Bay. I love meeting my friends there on a Friday or Saturday night! Sometimes we grab a few bar snacks and a cocktail or even dinner before the party really gets going. Once the DJ turns up the volume, it’s dancing all night, and the crowd is always a great mix of locals and visitors. I recommend Delirius to everyone who likes a fun night out with a cool young vibe.
