The tra­di­tional rum punch recipe used in the West Indies is a de­li­cious con­coc­tion, unique in each is­land and even each fam­ily recipe. Passed down through the ages, the old rhyme goes: 'One of sour, two of sweet, three of strong, four of weak.'

To some the recipe might mean lime juice, cane syrup, golden rum and wa­ter in a type of Planter's Punch, and to oth­ers the for­mula might be orange and pineap­ple juice, white rum and grena­dine in a sun­set-hued clas­sic. Any which way, serve your rum punch chilled over ice, with fruit gar­nish and a gen­er­ous sprin­kling of grated nut­meg.
