Certificates of Excellence for Lucian tourism

Tropical Traveller Magazine - - NEWSBITES ISLANDDIRECTORY -

It’s that time of year when the best operators in the tourism industry wait with baited breath for their Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence to land in their inbox, and every year more and more Saint Lucian businesses are hitting the mark with visitors to the island.

Hotels, restaurants and tours are all honoured with the award and must sustain a minimum 4 star rating to reach the top. Among Tropical Traveller’s favourite winners this year are Orlando’s Restaurant and Bar; Chef Orlando set up his hidden jewel of a restaurant in Soufriere in 2013 after many years leading kitchens in the island’s top hotels, and his motto of “sharing the love” has certainly hit home for every guest who sought him out for the past year.

The top tour attraction on the island is – of course – the Pitons, and valiant hikers who have braved the islands twin peaks find the trek more than worth the astounding view over the southern half of St. Lucia. If wheeled adventure is your thing, LucianStyle’s Segway tour of Mount Pimard comes top of the list for Gros Islet.

On the sea, day charter company Jus’ Sail have again reached the excellence mark with their charming old Carriacou Sloop “Good Expectation,” and their laid back sailing tours. Fully customized to please, visitors can sail, swim, snorkel and even enjoy a premium rum- tasting from St Lucia Distillers’ finest products.
